TEACHER GUIDELINES - Mrs. Donaldson & Mrs. Fritz

Number of books you need to read: 3

Before you begin each book, you will be given a contract from your teacher. You will fill out the contract with the help of your teacher and your family and bring it back to your teacher signed by your parent.
Contract will list the:
Book you plan to read.
• Project you plan to do after reading the book.
• Date when your project needs to be finished.

In signing the contract, you and your family are agreeing that the book you have chosen is appropriate for you and that the book is new to you.

There is a long time - about 3 months - in each of the 3 contract periods, so you will have plenty of time to read the book, think about what you've read, respond to it, and finish your project.

To summarize, here is what you will be doing with the help of your teacher and your family:
• Choose a book from one of the Book Lists.
• Complete and return your contract.
AT HOME:
• Read your book.
• Complete your Reading Response to the story.
• Complete a Project related to the story.

The reading, the written response, and the project are done at home and can include help from family.

Any book not found on a Book List for Grade 3, Grade 4 or Grade 5 needs to be approved by the teacher.

Students working with Bay Area Learning need to work with their learning specialist to select each book before a contract is sent home.
